Professor John Vorhaus teaches philosophy at University College London (Institute of Education and UCL philosophy department), and, in his spare time, at a London prison for adult men. He teaches courses on disability, rights, equality, dignity and applied ethics. His principal interests are moral status, equality, respect and dignity, particularly as these ideas apply to people with profound learning difficulties. John has written papers on human dignity, respect, equality, citizenship, capability theory, dependency, vulnerability, care, personhood, models of disability and prisoners' rights. His recent books are Giving Voice to Profound Disability (2016) and Valuing Profoundly Disabled People (2018).
